  • St Peter’s crowned national schools basketball champions

St Peter’s Collegiate Academy is celebrating a historic achievement after its U19 Women’s Basketball Team were crowned Dynamik National Schools Champions, securing a commanding 58–38 victory in the National Final at the University of Essex.

The Wolverhampton school delivered a composed and disciplined performance against Sedgehill Academy, taking control early and maintaining their lead throughout. A dominant defensive display saw St Peter’s hold their opponents to single-digit scores in three of the four quarters, including just four points in the second.

The victory marks a significant milestone for the Academy and a proud moment for the local community, particularly following last season’s final disappointment.

Ella O was named Final MVP after an outstanding performance, scoring 18 points alongside three rebounds and four steals. Faith O also impressed, contributing 12 points and eight rebounds, with a strong presence at both ends of the court.

Douaine Anderson, Basketball Coach at St Peter’s, said:

“I’m incredibly proud of this group. The way they approached the game, with discipline, composure and real togetherness, was outstanding.

This has been a long journey for them, and to see it come together on a national stage is special. It reflects the work they put in every day and the belief they have in each other.”

The team will now look ahead to the AoC National Cup Final on 29 April at the University of Worcester, where they will face Farnborough Sixth Form College.
