Adverse Weather Guidelines

In the event of adverse weather, such as heavy snow or ice, we will carefully assess conditions to determine whether it is safe for students and families to travel to the academy. This includes consideration of local road conditions and the availability of bus and transport services.

If conditions are assessed as unsafe, or if transport is significantly disrupted, the academy may close or operate alternative arrangements. The safety of our students, families, and staff is always our highest priority.

Where a decision is required, we will aim to communicate this by 7.30 am, or earlier, where possible. Updates will be shared via:

  • SMS (text message) to parents and carers;

  • the academy website;

  • our official social media channels.

We ask families to check these channels before travelling to the academy during periods of severe weather.

WhatsApp Channel

We are excited to announce our new WhatsApp Channel, which parents and carers can follow to receive important updates about events and academy-wide notices. In the event of adverse weather affecting the running of the academy, updates will also be shared on this channel.

Over 800 people are already following us, and we encourage everyone to join. A direct link to the channel is bit.ly/SPCAWhatsapp (please note it is case-sensitive).
