Our new building

In January 2026, St Peter's Collegiate Academy opened the doors to a landmark £38 million building, delivered in partnership with the Department for Education, Three Spires Trust, Kier Construction and architects Bond Bryan. Replacing four outdated blocks, our new three-floor facility brings 80% of the academy together under one roof, providing a vibrant, light-filled and modern environment designed to help every student flourish.

Nearly a year on, it has transformed the experience of learning and working at St Peter's – for our students, our staff and the wider Wolverhampton community.

Learning for the 21st century

Tailored to modern teaching methods, the building gives students access to outstanding facilities across a broad and ambitious curriculum:

• Science laboratories equipped for practical experimentation and scientific discovery
• Design and technology workshops built to foster innovation, engineering and hands-on creativity
• Purpose-built creative media and performing arts spaces designed to inspire confidence and develop talent
• Spacious, light-filled classrooms and collaborative learning areas that support both focused study and group work
• Well-equipped ICT suites where students develop computing and AI skills for a rapidly changing world
• A modern dining hall and social spaces where students can eat, meet and recharge

A sustainable building

Our new building is also a living lesson in environmental responsibility. Built using a fabric-first approach to minimise energy waste, it generates the majority of its own operational energy on site. Key features include:

• Nearly 400 photovoltaic solar panels producing clean, renewable electricity
• Air-source heat pumps providing efficient heating throughout the year
• Enhanced thermal insulation and high-performance materials based on the Breathing Buildings approach, creating comfortable, climate-controlled learning spaces

By significantly reducing our carbon footprint, we are providing a healthier environment for our students today while playing our part in protecting the planet for future generations.

Looking ahead: 2027

Our new building is the centrepiece of a wider transformation of the academy site. As we move into the final phase of development, work is underway to complete the surrounding grounds, restore full access to our sports and media blocks, and bring the outdoor areas to life with new landscaping.
