St Peter’s Collegiate Academy Girls’ Basketball Team Reach National Schools Final

St Peter’s Collegiate Academy in Wolverhampton is celebrating a major sporting success after its U19 Girls’ Basketball Team secured a place in the Dynamik National Schools Final with an impressive semi-final victory.
Playing at home at St Peter’s Collegiate Academy, the team defeated Northampton School for Girls 58–49 in a disciplined and determined performance that continues an outstanding season for the academy’s basketball programme.
After a closely contested opening quarter, Northampton edged ahead early in the game. However, St Peter’s responded strongly in the second period with organised defensive pressure, strong rebounding and quick transition play to establish a halftime lead.
The game remained competitive throughout, but the Wolverhampton side maintained their composure and teamwork in the closing stages to secure the win and confirm their place in the Dynamik National Schools Basketball Final.
Leading the scoring for St Peter’s was Ella O. with 19 points, supported by Gabrielle R. (13 points) and Faith O. (10 points). Tanya J-O. added 8 points, while Christiana M., Doretta O-D. and Kiara N. all contributed valuable points during the game.
Head Coach, Douaine Anderson, praised the team’s performance and commitment.
“I am incredibly proud of the group. They trusted the process and executed the game plan with discipline and togetherness. It takes real character to achieve something like this, and the players showed that throughout the game.”
The result sees St Peter’s return to the Dynamik National Schools Final for the second consecutive year, following last year’s runner-up finish. The team will now have the opportunity to go one step further as they compete for the national title.
The National Final will take place at the University of Essex on 25 March, where St Peter’s Collegiate Academy will represent Wolverhampton on the national stage.
Sport plays a central role in life at St Peter’s, supporting students to develop confidence, resilience and leadership alongside their academic studies. Achievements such as this reflect the dedication of the players, the expertise of the coaching staff and the academy’s wider commitment to excellence in sport.
The team will now begin their final preparations ahead of the national final later this month.
